Twubs.com Introduces Hashtag Registry
Twubs.com Introduces Hashtag Registry RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Aug. 10, 2009) —Twubs.com, a social media aggregator of Twitter, YouTube, TwitPic, RSS and other feeds around hashtags, today announced a new hashtag registry, which gives any user or organization the ability to register their hashtag(s). Registration allows a user to become administrator of the Twub which allows for increased protection against spam by blocking users/ particular words, etc., prevents multiple uses of the hashtag, helps refine the conversation when entering a Twub, and helps users find conversations relevant to their interests by hashtag type, such as company name, hobby, conference, church, event and others.
“We will always strive to make conversations as relevant and succinct as possible while maintaining a free marketplace of ideation,” said Tony Ferraro, president of Twubs.
Those who register their hashtag will retain the right to full administration of the Twub and can also assign other administrators and editors to keep the conversation focused on the topic at hand. Administrators can also manage hashtag aliases, maintain the Twub’s personalization, and filter SPAM and undesired language.
Companies and conference organizations can carry over and maintain content and branding from their physical environment to the social space making it easier for their followers to follow the entire conversation.
“Organizations like the producers of ‘LOST’ (#LOST) or ‘Big Brother’ (#BB11) or companies like Oracle (#Oracle) and CNBC (#CNBC) should have a way that their consumers can easily find and interact with them in social media, positively or negatively,” said Ferraro.
General hashtags such as wine, gardening or green will continue to be categorized for search purposes but will not be registered by a single entity.
To register a hashtag, users need to complete a form located at www.http://twubs.com/registerhashtag
About Twubs.com Launched in late April, Twubs.com is a social media aggregator of Twitter, YouTube, TwitPic, RSs and other feeds around hashtags. After selecting groups they’re interested in, Twubs provides a central community-driven hub or “Twub” where they can access real time tweets, twitpics, and videos without having to click on an external link. Users can further personalize the Twub by creating a description for the hashtag related to the Twub and pull any content from any feed such as RSS or site such as Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo or twitpic into one collaborative environment making it easier to find relevant content for a favorite event or group, or other people with similar interests. Users can search for movie reviews, restaurants, travel destinations, items for sale, jobs and more in real-time from real people — all in one place. They can also embed any Twub into their social networking site that accepts Java script.
