New hashtag registry for churches now available

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (August 10, 2009) — Twubs.com, a social media aggregator of Twitter, YouTube, TwitPic RSS and other feeds around hashtag(s), today announced that it will be providing churches  its Event Suite — free of charge —to stream online church events and conferences. . Using the Twubs.com Event Suite, churches and church events can extend their message and ministries to potential and existing members around the world.

"Twubs has helped us make the whole GMA IMMERSE experience more 'personal'. Participants are able to easily follow the hashtag messages and see each other's pictures from one page. It adds a whole new dimension and helps others experience the event from their own eyes – and the eyes of others. Twubs is an awesome tool and simple to use." - Jason Whitehorn (www.gotworship.net - The OFFICIAL Blog of IMMERSE)

Since its launch one month ago, the Event Suite has been used by more than 30 churches and organizations to stream live events and conferences in the U.S., Columbia, Puerto Rico, Iran, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Russia, and Spain.

Some of these include:

·         Hillsong Conference 2009

·         Campus Crusade for Christ

·         Social Media Breakfast

·         Toleeps

·         GMA Immerse

·         Sandals Church

·         ChurchMediaDesignTV

·         Calvin 500

“Twubs is committed to improving the way people in the church communicate with each other and with people outside the church all week long,” said Tony Ferraro, president of Twubs.  “Additionally, we are trying to deliver free tools to the church that will allow pastors to engage their local body.  If the Church can better interact and remain connected, the Body of Christ can be easily mobilized and better empowered to minister.”

Twubs.com also announced a new hashtag registry, which gives any user or organization the ability to register their hashtag(s). Registration allows a user to become administrator of the Twub which allows for increased protection against spam by blocking users/ particular words, etc., prevents multiple uses of a hashtag, helps refine the conversation when entering a Twub, and helps users find conversations relevant to their interests by hashtag type. To register a hashtag, administrators need to complete a form located at  http://twubs.com/registerhashtag. Within 48 hours, Twubs will either register or deny the claim based on its legitimacy.

About Twubs.com

Launched in late April, Twubs.com is a groups and search tool that allows users to search for groups through hashtags used on Twitter.  After selecting groups they’re interested in, Twubs provides a central community-driven hub or “Twub” where they can access real time tweets, twitpics, and videos without having to click on an external link. Users can further personalize the Twub by creating a description for the hashtag related to the Twub and pull any content from any feed such as RSS or site such as Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo or twitpic into one collaborative environment making it easier to find relevant content for a favorite event or group, or other people with similar interests.  Users can search for movie reviews, restaurants, travel destinations, items for sale, jobs and more in real-time from real people  — all in one place. They can also embed any Twub into their social networking site that accepts Java script.
